Under the Family Law Act 1975, parties seeking parenting orders are generally required to attempt Family Dispute Resolution before commencing proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Australian Mediation Service provides structured Section 60I intake assessments and mediation conferences in accordance with legislative requirements.
Appointments are available online Australia-wide, including Sydney, NSW Country, and Canberra,
A Section 60I Certificate may confirm one of the following:
• That both parties attended and made a genuine effort
• That one party did not attend
• That mediation was not appropriate
• That mediation commenced but did not resolve the dispute
• That one party refused to attend
Certificates are issued in accordance with statutory obligations and professional standards governing accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners.
Each party participates in a private intake assessment to determine suitability, safety considerations and readiness for mediation.
Where appropriate, mediation is scheduled promptly using a structured and impartial process.
If mediation does not resolve the matter, or is assessed as unsuitable, a Section 60I Certificate may be issued in accordance with legislative requirements.
We understand that some matters are time-sensitive, particularly where Court filing deadlines apply. Prompt intake appointments may be available subject to scheduling.
